The ThinHAND-43 is a highly portable, all-in-one data acquisition system in an extremely attractive form factor. This model runs from its own internal batteries for hours at a time ... and even indefinitely if you hot swap in fresh batteries! The ThinHAND is our smallest battery powered data acquisition instrument, and the most capable version overall is the DEWE-3143.

Overview

The DEWE-3143 is configured in a “notebook computer” form factor, with a flip up 15” touchscreen that opens up to reveal a keyboard and trackball underneath. The left side panel has the signal inputs, CAN BUS interfaces, and expansion connectors. The computer connections are on the right side of the system. The system runs from its own batteries, which plug into slots that are protected behind a door on the rear panel. These batteries are hot-swappable, so you can exchange them while the system is running from them, and you can keep it running forever in that way. Or you can plug the system into AC power using the included AC/DC adapter. This adapter is powerful enough to power the system and recharge the batteries simultaneously.



You can also power the system directly from DC power, from 18-24 VDC. If you need to power the system from 9-18 VDC, as in a vehicle, we have an isolated DC/DC power supply that will allow you to run the system from 12VDC (which can vary quite a bit). This isolation also protects your signals from being influenced by the vehicle’s power system, ground loops, and more.

Inputs


The Thinhand features 8 universal input channels, which can handle just about any kind of sensor via our popular MSI adapters. Natively each of the inputs can handle full bridge strain gages and voltages up to +/-10V. There are also 8 synchronous counter/encoder “super counters” built in, which can be configured as up to 24 TTL digital inputs instead of the counters. There are 2 high speed CAN BUS interfaces, and DEWESoft-SE software is built-in and ready to go. The DEWE-3143 is 100% ready to go right out of the box! But of course you can add some popular accessories, such as our MSI adapters, or some mating cables for the counters.

  • Eight great dynamic analog inputs, which natively handle full bridge sensors and low voltages
  • Each of the analog inputs can be adapted to handle IEPE, charge, thermocouples and RTDs using our intelligent MSI interfaces (see below for details)
  • Eight advanced counter inputs. Each one can be configured as a counter, timer, RPM converter, encoder input, and more. These inputs are 100% synchronous with the analog inputs, of course.
  • 24 digital TTL input lines
  • Two high-speed CAN BUS interfaces, so that you can connect up to the data busses in all kinds of cars, trucks, aircraft, trains, and more. Everything is recorded synchronously to a single data file within DEWESoft.

Most data acquisition software packages allow you to display and record data from A/D cards, to control signal conditioners, and record data to RAM or disk. Of course, DEWESoft handles all that easily - but that’s just the beginning. HMV
DEWESoft can be extended to handle a wide variety of applications, including human body vibrations, as shown in the screen above. Record accelerometer data and output in real time calculations in accordance with international standards related to whole body, hand, arm etc studies. The option called DEWEsoft-OPT-HBV can be added to any Dewetron system which has high dynamic range acceleration inputs, like the DEWE-3143.

Channel Expansion
The DEWE-3143 can accept one DEWE-43 (requires also the 43-SYNC option), and thus the channel count can be doubled:
add a DEWE-43!!

What you need to add:

You can buy additional batteries and hot swap them into the Neutrino-4 for even more running time.
