Overview

The DEWE-3031 SideHAND data acquisition system is a powerful benchtop model which can be configured with up to 128 channels of MDAQ signal conditioning. There is a big, bright touchscreen on the front panel, and the MDAQ-SUB 8-channel modules are located on the rear panel. The computer connections are on the right side of the system.

Any three ORION or AD series A/D cards can be installed inside, and options like VIDEO, CAN BUS, etc are still available.

Hot-swappable batteries
The SideHAND runs from its own "smart batteries," which plug into slots that are protected behind a door on the bottom panel. These batteries are hot-swappable, so you can exchange them while the system is running from them, and you can keep the system running forever in that way. Or you can plug the SideHAND into AC power using the included AC/DC adapter. This adapter is powerful enough to power the system and recharge the batteries simultaneously. You can also power the systems directly from DC power, from 18-24 VDC. If you need to power the SideHAND from 9-18 VDC, as in a vehicle, we have an isolated DC/DC power supply that will allow you to run the system from 12VDC (which can vary quite a bit). This isolation also protects your signals from being influenced by the vehicle’s power system, ground loops, and more.

DEWE-3031 Model

The DEWE-3031 can directly accept 16 MDAQ channels (any two 8-channel MDAQ-SUB modules) can be installed
There are three battery slots on the bottom surface, so you can hot-swap in our high output lithium ion batteries. Even if you plan to keep the system plugged in via the standard DPS-2410 AC/DC power supply, the batteries make the ideal UPS -- protecting you against power loss for hours at a time!

DEWE-3031 configurations
The main 3031 chassis has two positions for our MDAQ-SUB modules. These are DIFFERENTIAL input modules, each one with 8 dynamic channels on it. Pick any two MDAQ-SUBS for 16 total fast channels.

Next, choose an A/D card. Basically you can pick any of our ORION series or A/D series cards. This will occupy only ONE of the three PCI slots inside the system. ORION series cards can be ordered with 2 CAN BUS interfaces, as well as additional counters and digital inputs.

Therefore, you can also add one or two additional interface cards. For example, we have PCI interface cards for ARINC 429, MIL-STD-1553, a combination card with BOTH interfaces, a four-channel VIDEO framegrabber card, and even a PCM aerospace interface card. Thus we can create a system for you with a huge amount of recording power in a small, portable, battery powered platform.

DEWE-3031-20 "Take 20" model

Need more channels? Well, we'll see your 16 channels and raise you four... the "Take 20" model of the DEWE-3031 includes 20 powerful and versatile input channels!

This model includes ORION-1624-200 and ORION-0424-200 A/D cards, for 20 channels of 200 kS/s/ch maximum SIMULTANEOUS sampling, 24-bit resolution, and two synchronous counter/encoder/tach input (expandable up to 8). In addition, this model features 16 digital I/O lines, and is compatible with many upgrades and add-ons. There is one free PCI slot, so you can add ARINC 429 and MIL-STD-1553 interfaces, or a video frame grabber, as well as internal IRIG or GPS timecode interfaces. DEWESoft-7-PROF is also included, so the best software in the world is on-board! This is a Core2Duo processor system with a big 17" touchscreen display, and a removable 250 GB hard disk drive, ethernet and USB interfaces, a built-in keyboard, and of course- our SideHAND battery power system, powering it for hours without external power! Our DPS-2410 AC/DC power supply/charger is included, as well as a soft sided carrying bag with pouches for your accessories, handles and a shoulder strap.

What is required to complete this system:
1. Choose two MDAQ-SUB series 8-channel signal conditioning modules for the first 16 channels (see the list of compatible MDAQs). They are factory installed on left side panel. The other four channels will be available on BNC connectors on the right side of the unit - each channel can be used for voltage or IEPE accelerometers.

Software

Most data acquisition software packages allow you to display and record data from A/D cards, to control signal conditioners, and record data to RAM or disk. Of course, DEWESoft handles all that easily - but that’s just the beginning. Options & Upgrades

Each SideHAND needs to have these elements added in order to be a complete system:

A/D card:

• AD series or ORION series A/D card(s)

Signal conditioning:

• 1 x MDAQ-BASE-5 base card for each 16 channels that will be installed
• Any two MDAQ-SUB series 8-channel modules for each MDAQ-BASE-5
• Software: DEWESoft data acquisition software (SE version minimum, PROF required for multicard systems, or for 22 or 24-bit A/D cards)

Popular upgrades (factory installed):

• CAN BUS - be sure to order an ORION card with 2 x synchronous CAN BUS interfaces, plus the DEWESoft-OPT-CAN software option. If you want the ability to output messages onto the CAN bus, please also order the DEWESoft-OPT-CAN-OUT software option.
• COUNTERS - the two synchronous counters included as a minimum on all ORION cards are wired by default to the standard 37-pin DSUB ACCESORY connector. If you would also like 2 x LEMO counter inputs installed on the front panel, please order the ORION-CNT-2 option, and mating connectors.
• MDAQ-FILT filter for the inputs -- this is very popular, as it provides the best possible signal performance.
• Larger hard drive inside (standard is 250 GB HDD -- larger drives and solid state drives are available as upgrades)

You can buy additional batteries and hot swap them into the Neutrino-4 for even more running time.
