DEWE-3041 SideHAND+

The DEWE-3041 SideHAND+ is a benchtop data acquisition system capable of hosting 16, 32, 64 or even 96 MDAQ input channels. This is the most channels in an "all in one" battery powered system that we offer! Featuring our battery power system which makes the ideal long-duration UPS, protecting you against accidental power outages during critical measurements.
Overview

The DEWE-3040 series features a brand new mechanical design which is not only more attractive, but better in terms of EMI and RFI performance. The power system inside has been similarly improved, and there are now independent power supply system for the computer/display and the MDAQ signal conditioning systems, for increased reliability.

The SideHAND+ runs from its own "smart batteries," which plug into slots that are protected behind a door on the bottom panel. These batteries are hot-swappable, so you can exchange them while the system is running from them, and you can keep the system running forever in that way. Or you can plug the SideHAND into AC power DIRECTLY, and it will recharge the batteries automatically, whenever it is required.

2 counter LEMOs are standard when any ORION card is installed inside (up to 8 counters are available).
Also included as standard are the DB37 accessory connector with all digital I/O and trigger lines, an EPAD2 LEMO connector, a 12VDC power output connector

DEWE-3041 configurations
The main 3041 chassis has TWELVE positions for our MDAQ-SUB modules. These are DIFFERENTIAL input modules, each one with 8 dynamic channels on it. Pick up to 12 MDAQ-SUBS for 96 total fast channels. These can be MDAQ modules with BNC or DSUB connectors.
Next, choose one or more A/D cards. Basically you can pick 1, 2 or 3 of our ORION series or A/D series cards. There are three PCI slots inside the system.
ORION series cards can be ordered with 2 CAN BUS interfaces, as well as additional counters and digital inputs.

For 32 channels - simultaneous sampling:
ORION-3216-100 card: 32 channels, 16-bit, up to 100 kS/s/ch max sample rate. Two advanced counter/encoders and 16 digital I/O lines are standard.
Optional CAN BUS (2) interfaces.
For 32 channels - simultaneous sampling:
TWO ORION-1616-500 cards: 32 channels, 16-bit, up to 500 kS/s/ch max sample rate. Two advanced counter/encoders and 16 digital I/O lines are standard.
Optional CAN BUS (2 or 4) interfaces, optional 80 digital inputs, optional 8 counter/encoders.
For 32 channels - multiplexed sampling:
AD32-1000-16 card: 32 channels, 16-bit, up to 62.5 kS/s/ch max sample rate. Two simple counters and 16 digital I/O lines are standard.
For 64 channels - simultaneous sampling:
TWO ORION-3216-100 cards: 64 channels, 16-bit, up to 100 kS/s/ch max sample rate. Two advanced counter/encoders and 16 digital I/O lines are standard.
Optional CAN BUS (2 or 4) interfaces, optional 16 more digital inputs, optional 2 more advanced counter/encoder inputs.

THREE ORION-3216-100 cards: 96 channels, 16-bit, up to 100 kS/s/ch max sample rate. Two advanced counter/encoders and 16 digital I/O lines are standard.
Optional CAN BUS (2 or 4 or 6) interfaces, optional 16 or 32 more digital inputs, optional 2 or 4 more advanced counter/encoder inputs.
For 96 channels - multiplexed sampling:
TWO AD32-1000-16 cards: 69 channels, 16-bit, up to 62.5 kS/s/ch max sample rate. Two simple counters and 16 digital I/O lines are standard.
Optional 16 or 32 more digital inputs, optional 2 or 4 more simple counters.
Therefore, you can also add one or two additional interface cards. For example, we have PCI interface cards for ARINC 429, MIL-STD-1553, a combination card with BOTH interfaces, a four-channel VIDEO framegrabber card, and even a PCM aerospace interface card. Thus we can create a system for you with a huge amount of recording power in a small, portable, battery powered platform.

Software



Most data acquisition software packages allow you to display and record data from A/D cards, to control signal conditioners, and record data to RAM or disk. Of course, DEWESoft handles all that easily - but that’s just the beginning. Imagine if you could plug all these addition devices into your data acquisition system, and add them to your recordings in perfect sync:

Options & Upgrades
Each SideHAND needs to have these elements added in order to be a complete system:
A/D card:
- AD series or ORION series A/D card(s)
- 1 x MDAQ-BASE-5 base card for each 16 channels that will be installed
- Any two MDAQ-SUB series 8-channel modules for each MDAQ-BASE-5
- Software: DEWESoft data acquisition software (SE version minimum, PROF required for multicard systems, or for 22 or 24-bit A/D cards)
- CAN BUS - be sure to order an ORION card with 2 x synchronous CAN BUS interfaces, plus the DEWESoft-OPT-CAN software option. If you want the ability to output messages onto the CAN bus, please also order the DEWESoft-OPT-CAN-OUT software option.
- COUNTERS - the two synchronous counters included as a minimum on all ORION cards are wired by default to the standard 37-pin DSUB ACCESORY connector. If you would also like 2 x LEMO counter inputs installed on the front panel, please order the ORION-CNT-2 option, and mating connectors.
- MDAQ-FILT filter for the inputs -- this is very popular, as it provides the best possible signal performance.
- Larger hard drive inside (standard is 250 GB HDD -- larger drives and solid state drives are available as upgrades)

Want to recharge batteries off-line? Our Neutrino-4 battery charger/supply unit is up to the task. The Neutrino-4 comes with one battery as standard, but you can add three more and charge all four batteries very quickly outside of the Dewetron system..
